12th Repeat Explorer Workshop
May 27-29, 2025
Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, České Budějovice, Czech Republic
The workshop will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of advanced sequencing and bioinformatics approaches for analyzing the repeat composition of plant and animal genomes. Unlike previous workshops that primarily focused on using the RepeatExplorer pipeline to analyze repeats from unassembled sequence reads, this year’s workshop will center on:
“Repetitive DNA Annotation in Genome Assemblies.”
This shift in focus reflects the increasing availability of high-quality genome assemblies from large sequencing initiatives and individual research labs.
Workshop Highlights:
- Theoretical sessions and hands-on training in repeat annotation pipelines, including DANTE, DANTE_LTR, DANTE_TIR, TideCluster, and related tools developed by the host laboratory.
- A dedicated segment for RepeatExplorer pipeline users, covering troubleshooting and result interpretation. New or inexperienced users are encouraged to review our video tutorials in advance, as basic training will not be included.
- A mini-conference featuring participant presentations on repeat analysis in plant and animal genomes. Workshop attendees are encouraged to present their results, and they may include the title of their proposed talk in the registration form.

The workshop is organized by the Laboratory of Molecular Cytogenetics of the Biology Centre CAS. It will take place at the Academy of Sciences / University campus in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. In case of any questions or comments please contact Jiri Macas.
